Ellendale Diamond Project, Western Australia: Overview
GIB 100%
Key Points
- Gibb River Diamonds Limited (‘GIB’ or the ‘Company’) owns the mining and exploration leases (100%) which cover the Ellendale Diamond Project in the West Kimberley, WA
- The Ellendale Project has been one of the world’s foremost diamond producers with past production of approximately 1.3 million carats.
- This included the annual supply of over 50% of the world’s Fancy Yellow diamonds, which were the subject of a special marketing agreement between the former operator and Tiffany & Co.
The Company’s aim at Ellendale is to progress and permit areas which can be brought into profitable production as quickly as possible. A number of exciting targets at Ellendale include:
- Retreating the E9 Lights Dump (‘Lights’ are the light fraction discard from the Dense Media Separation (DMS) plant)
- E9 West and E9 East Alluvials
- E12 Alluvials is an area which, along with the E9 East alluvials, is considered to have the highest proportion, largest and best quality Fancy Yellow diamonds of all the alluvial fields. Historical sampling produced a 428 carat parcel of diamonds which had a very similar valuation to the E9 East alluvial production6
- Blina Alluvials – bulk sample testing for high grade (project is fully permitted to mine and shovel ready)
- Assessing existing E4 & E9 ROM pad stockpiles and lights volumes and grades
- Numerous other alluvial and hard rock targets
